We are currently looking for a passionate and skilled VP of Platform Product Management to lead our software product management initiatives. The VP of Platform Product Management will define and lead the strategy for our platform, enabling educators and students to benefit from a connected SaaS-enabled ecosystem.This role is responsible for unifying software, content, and hardware into a scalable platform that enhances teaching and learning while supporting business growth.

Who You Are

You're a seasoned product leader with 12+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in SaaS or platform leadership roles. You have extensive experience building platforms that integrate multiple services, ideally in EdTech or adjacent industries. You have knowledge of SaaS business models, licensing, and content delivery, and a strong track record of aligning product vision with customer needs and institutional goals. You have demonstrated the ability to set strategy, influence at the executive and Board level, and deliver business impact. You also possess excellent leadership and communication skills with experience collaborating across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.

SUMMARY  

The VP of Platform Product Management will define and lead the strategy for our platform, enabling educators and students to benefit from a connected SaaS-enabled ecosystem. This role is responsible for unifying software, content, and hardware into a scalable platform that enhances teaching and learning while supporting business growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Define the platform vision and roadmap, integrating applications, content, and services into a cohesive SaaS experience.
  • Guide the evolution of core tools into connected, service-oriented applications with modern capabilities (accounts, SSO, LMS integrations, cloud storage, analytics).
  • Ensure interoperability with education technology standards (e.g., LTI, SSO, rostering) for seamless adoption.
  • Drive adoption and engagement of our platform globally, ensuring teachers and students can seamlessly integrate Vernier solutions into their science learning.
  • Build strategies for delivering digital content to drive customer engagement and long-term adoption.
  • Support initiatives to build community around Vernier’s digital ecosystem.
  • Lead and mentor platform product managers and senior ICs.
  • Partner with engineering, marketing, sales, and customer success to deliver solutions that improve educator workflows and student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to integrate platform services with internal systems for business efficiency.
  • Works independently under limited supervision. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the Product Management Team for software. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
  • Review performance of individuals in the group providing positive and appropriate communications that are fair, consistent, and adhere to the company policies and culture.  Provide praise, feedback, and counseling, as well as disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Interview and hire quality candidates that fit with the company culture and adequately meet job qualifications.
  • Ensure proper training of new and existing employees on departmental processes and procedures.
  • Establish clear, consistent and regular communication and expectations to workers.
  • Manage and motivate workers providing a fun and productive atmosphere.
  • Conducts quarterly one-on-one meetings and timely performance reviews with all direct reports.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, education, business or related field.
  • 12+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in SaaS or platform leadership roles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent written and oral communication is essential, since this job relies heavily on the ability to communicate effectively. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, algebra, and statistics. Interpretation of graphed data.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to creatively find ways to solve problems. Ability to create solutions to problems when needed.
