Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two or more years related experience and/or training
  • Familiarity with email, word processing and spreadsheet databases
  • Ability to read and orient architectural floorplans to a built structure
  • Knowledge of building systems and maintenance protocols
  • BOC Level I & II certification preferred

Job Title:  Facilities Technician I

Department:  Facilities

Reports To:  Facilities Manager

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt


The Facilities Technician is responsible for executing tasks pertaining to the maintenance, repair, improvement and operation of all Vernier-occupied facilities (both owned and leased) and equipment. In addition this position may assist the Production, Service and Engineering departments by making custom part modifications as required.

The Facilities Technician will assess and consider as part of the daily decision making process: 1) the safety of employees and guests, 2) the security of assets, 3) service to customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure the site, building, equipment and interiors continuously function or operate efficiently, effectively and safely through performance of timely cleaning, repairs and maintenance
  • Execute and coordinate facility projects relative to employee relocations, room refreshes, and furniture and equipment installations using established procedures
  • Regularly communicate with contractors, vendors, peers, and managers to ensure all stakeholders have relevant information regarding projects and site status
  • Responsible for regularly acknowledging, monitoring, updating and completing facilites tickets using online helpdesk system
  • Support events at site with furniture set-ups and/or reconfigurations and related activities as required
  • Conduct periodic property and safety inspections
  • Act as secondary emergency building contact and assist with the implementation of safety and security plan and drills
  • Assist with recording of data for required reporting (solar output, lamp recycling, etc.)
  • May drive box truck in between warehouse locations and/or to recycling centers
  • Provides stellar customer service by maintaining professional working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours
  • Works under limited supervision. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of independent judgment and creativity is required


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Facilities maintenance, modular furniture systems or related experience
  • Ability to read and orient architectural floorplans to a built structure
  • Knowledge of building systems and maintenance protocols. BOC Level I & II certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of PC applications: Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, Outlook/G-mail
  • Skilled in the efficient and safe use of hand and power tools
  • Valid Oregon drivers license and proof of a clean driving record


Ability to read and interpret documents including but not limited to: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, product procedure manuals and building plans.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
